From the outset, Baccha Sasur is a quirky and unreal film made with the sole intention to entertain people. The romance between Spandan and Jonaki takes inspiration from the love story between Spider-Man and Mary Jane. The film’s humour dotted with sexual innuendoes and borderline sexist jokes makes it stick to a stereotypical comedy line. However, it is not boring per se. Rather, it is bizarre. Despite its attempt to be quirky, the story is still the same old wine in a funky bottle. A poor boy falls in love with a rich girl and after her villain father and brothers bully him, the duo elope.
In the acting department, Chiranjeet and Ambarish Bhattacharya excel. The veteran actor has complete control over his emotional outbreaks and comic timing. Meanwhile, Ambarish does justice to the character that has some serious dark traits. He is spontaneous and convincing. Despite juggling between direction and acting, Biswarup too is quite convincing as Spandan’s BFF, Himu. While child actor Aman Mehra adds to the cuteness factor on screen, Koushani disappoints. She looks picture perfect on screen, but her portrayal was hardly convincing. Jeet, meanwhile, sheds his herogiri image. Here, he portrays a humble, boy-next-door character, and that’s a break from his conventional image. But there is definitely something off about his choice
