The Hallmark picture used the reliable “woman is reawakened to life and love by amnesia and a magical place” plot. Here Victoria Justice plays Lola, who works for a smarmy Los Angeles wine importer. After getting an account stolen out from under her by a mealy-mouthed colleague, she lights out on her own. Her first project is to get the rights to a fabulous Australian wine by waylaying a female vintner at her winery and B&B.The trek doesn’t go quite as planned, and Lola takes a job as a jackeroo — the term is explained — at the winery’s nearby sheep farm.Perky to the point of appearing severely overcaffeinated, Lola flubs her chores frequently — “What the flock!” she exclaims as some sheep go astray. The ranch manager, Max (Adam Demos), is the obligatory love interest, who guards a secret most viewers will guess before Lola is apprised of it.While many Hallmark movies are largely locked in, location wise, to Toronto and the rest of Ontario, “A Perfect Pairing” fairly luxuriates in Australia’s vineyard beauty. Even the more nose-holding aspects of sheep farming are depicted in a somehow visually pleasing way.It’s all so anodyne that the also-obligatory girl-gets-mad-at-hunk plot turn before the love-conquers-all finale feels like being shaken awake during a dream of drowning in butterscotch sunsets.
